The Difference Between Socialising and Mindful Sharing
In the writings below, I try to capture the essence of what it's like to share mindful and not so mindful moments that we have in ordinary everyday life. We first came together as a group to explore this in 2012. The wild idea then, was that we would not be a regular Social, Chat, Therapy or Support group, or even a forum for meditation. Instead, we would share and listen mindfully to one another about our ordinary everyday lives.
By Noticing, Observing and Witnessing (yes it does spell NOW!) mindfully, whatever was being shared, we would quietly offer our attention, acceptance, kindness and compassion. Not easy! Naturally it's very tempting to jump in and try to help or problem-solve, or get side-tracked by all the social stuff we normally engage in when we're with others.
